What to do if I get "access denied" to my UO files?
It is actually really simple.
Method one:
1. Go to the folder where you downloaded the Files for Etheria, the one that you have been denied access too.
2. Highlight the folder (single click) then go to TOOLS menu and FOLDER OPTIONS in the tool bar.
3. click on the VIEW tab and scroll down to the very bottom of the list and UNTICK where it says "USE SIMPLE FILE SHARING"
4. APPLY and click OK. Then RIGHT CLICK on the folder again and select PROPERTIES. Then go in to the SECURITY tab.
5. Simple make sure that the which ever user you are, that the FULL ACCESS option is TICKED in the list of options below the list of users....
SIMPLE :)
Or you can go to the command promt (maybe needed after restarting in safe mode with command prompt) and using the prompt go to the folder again and simply type:
CACLS *.* /T /G [user]:F
I am the only one who uses my computer so I am the Administrator AND user of my computer, therefore this is what I typed
CACLS *.* /T /G LOGAN\ADMINISTRATOR:F
*note don't use the [] in the sentance. Yes it is a "\" between my name and Administrator... If you are the sole user (or there is only one login profile simply follow me example substituting your name of course :)
*2nd note - I don't mean to sound patronising.... I just wanted to make it as easy for non computer literate people as possible :)
