We take great care in who we select for staff positions here, for Etheria. Staff have the ability to affect the game in many ways, positively, and negatively. Beyond that, joining the staff can sometimes actually reduce ones enjoyment of the game. We have strict rules for staff players, in order to protect the integrity of the game.
Almost without exception, we do not accept players for staff positions when those players actively seek such a position. Asking us if you can be staff is a sure way to be sure you never get the chance. We believe that a staff member must be someone who cares for the community here, and who wishes to contribute to it. This is simply not possible, for example, for a new player. Yet 90% of our 'requests' to become staff come from brand-new players. Every single one of those are turned down with the following advice. Every single one of those players ignored the advice, and hasn't been seen here since.
The advice is this: If you truly want to contribute to this community, you can do it as a normal player. In fact, that's how we choose our staff; by seeing who is showing exemplary desire to add to the enjoyment of other players. By running their own events, hunts and quests, players can show us what they are really made of.
