Shard Development News

It's great to see everyones interest in Etheria still thrives! Etheria Shard has seen a wounderful increase of player activity of the last several weeks, players are paticipating in role-play and testing/learning there new professions while the city around them is built by aspiring new masons. Unlike before there is now someone online frequantly and always something to do, from building, cooking, farming, and role-playing, to interacting with the staff and helping construct the city itself.

Marshalt and myself would like to take this opportunity to tell you the members of our community a little of what is going on in the Development of Etheria and several little reminding from us to you.

Many of our players get there news from the website or our "Forums" which is why they are there. However we have noticed several instances were players are only going to our website and checking if there is anything new posted, without logging in. While there is nothing wrong with that as such, please be aware that most our news are personalized, which means that certain news (and also other articles) can only be made visible to you once you are logged in with User ID and password. After all as a player on Etheria, you have advanced privileges and access to more information than ordinary webpage users.

Unlike many Shards out there as well as OSI, Etheria has a very different approach to game-play. What you know from OSI (If You Have Ever Played There) the crafts where you double-click an item and you get a Gump to craft something else, are simplistic code in comparison to our environment where things take on a life of their own, which in turn means a hundredfold in complexity and efford at least. So despite having some of the best Developers out there, scripts take time, things may change and more bugs will be found.
With the increase of players online at anyone time, I also expect a drastic increase of bugs and glitches to be found and I hereby want to express our apologies in advance... As many of you know Etheria has had an extremely lengthily test phase, but while the more popular skill like Masonry and Alchemy were tested intensely, few were willing to test the packages that are more complicated or tedious to test. We thus expect that quite a few more bugs will be uncovered, but with your help and patience you will see us fixing them quickly
Also you may see that some skills are yet undone or not set up properly and thus yet unavailable to public – in such cases our staff will do their best to offer you workarounds. Do not worry, you will get your chance to try your hands at it asap and staff will do their best to make your stay a pleasant one.

However now that more bugs are being reported, I need to ask you to do so in the proper manner, in order to enable us fixing them as quickly as possible.
-> Please make sure, that you only post bugs that you can reproduce. If you have a problem that you cannot reproduce, feel free to post about it on the forums, to have them confirmed by developers.
-> When you post a bug, don’t just post “when I click my xxx item, it doesn’t work” – Etheria has a high level of complexity and no two objects are ever the same. Please report as much detail as possible. What skills did you use, what were you working with before the bug happened… how did you get the items or skills that are causing the problem? Error search is a difficult task and the more detail you provide the more quickly your bug can be solved.
(e.g.I Clicked on my masonry hammer that I bought at a vendor, then targeted a greystone rock, upon the window opening to create a stone wall i clicked the north facing step... etc the more detail the description of how to reproduce the issue the better for us.)
-> And last but not least, when you report a bug, check your email regularly. You will automatically be updated on its status whenever something changes. If the bug goes to status “processed” further feedback of you is required. Check the bug report then for details or functions.

As a side note, we are still trying to hire more developers though, in order to speed up progress, but also as you fellow players make the shard more lively, we are seeing existing developers return to the project or work on it with increased effort.

Once more though, I wish you pleasant stay in Etheria – don’t forget, we’re all here for our enjoyment and even if there’s edges here or there, we’re doing our best to make your stay a pleasant one!
regards,
Firedancer
