Etheria is a role-playing shard. Whatever we do to make things craftable etc. is to allow better and more communication so you can role-play better...

Roleplaying Policy

Here at Etheria, roleplaying is strict and highly encouraged. When roleplaying, we ask that you give your 100% attention and best effort. What all this means is that you are expected to act and live the life of your character and become apart of this world known as Etheria. We expect you to always be roleplaying at all times. Just because there is no one around, doesn't mean you can go out of character and it doesn't mean that you are alone either. There may be someone from staff watching you. We enjoy seeing players putting a lot of effort into their character development. For example, your character's mother was killed by a mage. Because of this incidence, your character hates mages. Every time your character sees a mage, he/she will get angry and may lose control of himself and do things he may regret. But later, your character may unknowingly meet a mage and become really great friends. And when this mage reveals his/hers secret, your perspective on mages may change. We also love to see a lot of effort into your roleplaying. Like for example, you see an interesting item on the floor. Obviously, you'd pick it up right? But how would you pick it up? What is going through your character's mind?

Common Courtesy

This is a shard that is geared toward players who wish to 'enjoy' themselves. One can not enjoy themselves if they are constantly 'hurt' or 'humiliated' by others. Common courtesy is expected at all times. Simply be considerate toward all and let them develop their characters.

Account Policy

There are several things I should outline about your account here. First, you were granted your account with the assumption that you are mature enough to have one. You have proven yourself and your abilities in writing and we look forward to seeing them in action. Please value your account and take it seriously. This means that you should never attempt to use someone else's account nor should you ever give someone else permission to use your own account. {Keep your password at all times private!} We will never ask you for your password because we have access to the files that contain them all. This is very important to remember as many accounts on various shards, including some of the larger ones, have been hacked because of misuse.

Unattended Macroing Policy

Unattended Macroing is not tolerated here. That means that if you use a macroing program to macro with you better be able to respond to others that walk up to you. I do not mind if you check the boards when doing some things but if another player walks up to you and tries to talk to you, you should respond somehow. If staff talks to you and you do not respond it will get you kicked, jailed, have something spawned on you or banned depending on how often it happens. We are here to role play not work our skills to become the super maxed out player. Skill gain is fast enough with the training and using the skill.

Muling Policy

For those who do not know what muling is, Muling is the transfer on one or more items (including gold) from one of your characters to another one of your characters. This is not allowed here. Remember that this is a game and the sole purpose of it is to enjoy the journey. If we all had super built up/tanked characters we would all be bored. Take your time and enjoy the ride. Play fair.

Exploits and Bugs Policy

All exploits and bugs must be reported immediately. And upon finding one, you should refrain from continuing to use this bug/exploit. Anyone found exploiting a known bug will be dealt with. We're here to try and strengthen the community and establish a good playing environment for all to appreciate...not to simply surpass for your own desires. Enjoy the game and report all that is found.

Power Gaming Policy

Powergaming is the excessive driving of your character's goals toward gaining skills and items while letting your Roleplay slip. If someone comes up to you while you're mining, crafting, etc. for the twelfth straight hour in game, common courtesy would tell you to stop and interact. We ask for the community to interact with each other and help all enjoy their gaming experience here.

Player vs Player combat is restricted.

Using your "summoned pets" or tamed animals to attack is also considered PvP. If this is found to be happening then then expect to be punished according to how the the event took place.

Now just because we allow PvP between players under role played methods we will not tolerate PK'ers. Going around and picking fights just because you want to show that your character is tough will get you on the fast track to another shard. The staff of Etheria will allow players to fight but if there are any problems that arise from the fight or it continues on for any length of time, as in you go after the same player for days on end then staff will get involved.

For fighting within all the guidelines, there are rules to be followed. There is no rez killing! Once a player drops the fight is over and the characters should behave accordingly, not wait for the loser to get back up only to strike them down again. Alternately, there is no reason for the loser to stand up and immediately attack the victor.

Infractions of these rules will be dealt with in one of the follow methods.

*Jailed for 3 days and your character gets all the items destroyed in their backpack for the 1st offense.
*Jailed for 5 days, your character gets stripped and destroyed, all the items destroyed in their backpack and your bank wiped for the 2nd offense.
*3rd offense - head to another shard and ruin their fun. You are banned from Etheria!

This goes for everyone. No exceptions, no excuses will be accepted!

Looting Policy

Simply, there is no looting allowed. It can disrupt game balance and cause other related problems that we don’t want to see here on Etheria. An example of looting would be stumbling upon a party currently fighting one or possibly a group of monsters and taking the items from the fallen enemies. If the party doesn’t specifically ask for your help, if you are not a member of the party, or if you don’t kill it solo keep your hands off.
(This Does not apply to looting another player if you take them down)

Multiple Accounts Policy

Having more than one account is not accepted here and will get you automatically banned one the spot. NO EXCEPTIONS, NO EXCUSES. If you want to be unfair, then so shall we. We will not even hear your side of the story. We don't care if "you wont have the time when school starts again and wanted another character to play right away" or "I wanted more than three characters" Once we confirm you have created another account, you're gone.

Name Change Policy

Name changes are never approved unless your character is getting married in game or your name is too long for the creation window to take. We will not change it for "roleplay reasons" or because you don't like the name

Our Last Words

As the Admins of the shard, We (Firedancer, Omega, Marshalt) reserve the right to settle disputes both in/out of game for the betterment of the shard and these decisions should be considered final and respected. If for some reason you have reason to believe something is happening that We're not aware of and need a mediator or someone to resolve an issue, please contact one of us via ICQ, AIM, MSN, PM, email, or any other means deemed appropriate and matters will be dealt with. At no time will we allow anyone to badmouth the shard or the staff openly
